  • Admittedly, this FNAF clone goes farther than I would expect a scratch version to go. You can actually close the doors and look at every room through the camera. Last time I played a scratch FNAF game, it somehow had neither of these features, so hats off to that. However, this game is still notably lacking the most important element: power. Without a limited amount of power, I can just keep the doors closed the whole time (which I did) and beat the game quite literally without trying at all. The battery power is the central crux of the difficulty of FNAF, so without it, you still don't really have a game, but a screen to stare at. Also, you absolutely need to communicate your controls to the player. I had to figure out them all through trial and error, and I imagine most players did not bother trying to do this and quit the game in frustration. I only bothered because I feel obligated to try and figure out your game to give proper feedback. Most other players wont. The graphics leave a lot to be desired. I don't mind the simple vector art, but the proportions and depth of all rooms are completely wonky, and every room lacks detail. (Repeating the exact same hallway image 3x also felt a bit lazy). The squirrel was, well, there. It was definitely a thing in the game. Not sure why it was, but it was. I guess I'm a bit thrown off that you didn't at least use a scary png or something. Lastly, ditch the tts voice, or at the very least use a better one (although I would say to just communicate your dialogue through text). There are many ai tts programs you can use for free that do a significantly better job than this one, which has been outdated for years now. It is completely illegible, especially on the first night. I could *sortof* understand it on the second, but certainly not the first. Overall, this certainly is a functional prototype that you could turn into a full fledged game, but theres a lot to be done to make it both fun and scary (and also a game). 3/10 Edit: this also doesn't fit the theme of the game jam
