This is a great little horror VN that explores the habit of panic buying and I must say it curiously speaks to the times we live in. I like the overarching concept of the curse that befalls a small remote town as winter sets in. The increasing dread and desperation of the characters as the days roll on is a great way of building tension in a way that is not the product of a cheap jump scare There's also a bit of absurd humour at having apples of all things being the source of the death-defying loophole.

I think that this game is quite subtle in how it depicts its themes and the writing is effective too. I'm not sure I can recommend much as constructive feedback, but with more time available to develop this game, it would be neat to see the player have greater agency in how they distribute the apples and to whom. This might add a deeper moral dimension to the way the player plays the game.

Great work!

Thanks for submitting Emporium to the SCREAM LITE jam!

Thank you for your kind words! I'm glad you like the writing and the slow buildup of tension, and I agree that the player needs to be able to make more choices about how they play the game. Maybe after the Jam is over, I'll update it with more choices and an apple distribution system! I appreciate the feedback, thanks for hosting the Jam!

cool visual novel, spooky atmosphere. I thought the layout with the four windows was really interesting. would love to see the same concept with more choices or an additional game mechanic

I'm glad you liked it! Maybe after the jam, I'll update it with control over the cash register or something like that.
