- Really great background/foreground. Even the tree bark is nice and expressive. Objects in the foreground should move much faster, so it’s clear that they don’t have collision Character designs are cool and engaging When moving the character, it sort of dithers? I’m not sure why. The HUD is pretty hard to understand. I have two numbers in the upper left that are difficult to see, and I don’t know what they represent. It was really unclear to me what my abilities were. It would be great if the game started with a few easy, clear challenges. Something to teach me I can dash, use my attack, etc. The player should be constrained to the play space. It seems like I can just walk offscreen I got to what I think was the second area, but couldn’t seem to kill the floating bad guy there. I think there needs to be some feedback to let the player know when they’re doing the right thing. Music is cool, but I wish it had more of an intro to draw you in Sound effects aren’t bad, but they aren’t attenuated. When I start the game, I hear a fireball sound and I’m not sure where it’s coming from. It needs to be attached to something in the game space so I can pinpoint the threat. It’s good that there is an attack sound, but I can’t tell if I hit an enemy or not. Especially with the large enemies that seem to take a lot of hits - am I close enough to hit them? Etc. This could be solved with audio. The player needs a sound for getting hurt, and a sound for death.
- Beautiful art execution! The hand painted look and multiplane background movement do an amazing job supporting gameplay. The controls are simple and responsive, but the animation is a bit slow/floaty.
