  • You have shown some technically ability you understand how to model UV and texture, plus it is good to see your use of reference photo of your friend for the posing of your character, Reference is king! The moldboards show a good level of research. It is hard to find an original approach with a well tried character trope like a detective but  try to find some unique angle to add some distinct touches. I would have liked to see some more use of props or additional extras like a gun belt maybe an over coat. I found the lighting a bit too dark I can understand trying to go for moody lighting but remember to show of your work to the full while still achieving the look your after. The shirt texture was a bit too heavy here you would have been better off giving your character a heavy coat to allow for more texture variation.

I did like that you added a wall and floor to ground your character and to start to tell a story you could push this further by making it a crime scene.

A good attempt at a human figure push the uniqueness of your character to give him a real personality and think about how to use the clothing to try out different techniques.
