  • A very good effort for the short amount of time you had. I liked the effects - smoke, rain lighting which all added to the mood. The balance wasn't far off and the pickups and variation of enemies was good but I did struggle to kill the dragon. The wave mode was also a good idea. I was really pleased with the AI not using navmesh - this is often over used or used unnecessarily. The AI did get stuck on barricades but I was in two minds as t whether this should be fixed or not - I did use it to control how they came at me. If you did want to upgrade it slightly it's easily done - if the AI can see enemy but hasn't moved for a few seconds just do a random move for a second or so in a backward direction from the player. I did find a few small bugs - the main one was that spawned AI was not fully reset on death, so when entered the spawn point I would often be surrounded by numerous AI. I also appreciated your comments in the design document and the way you set your objective clearly and worked efficiently in the limited time you had. Overall a great effort and demonstration of game development skills.

  • Nice polished fast paced game. Good job.

I recommend locking the mouse to the window for window mode so avoid clicking outside the window :)

  • Couple of bugs - hung on exit and fell for a very long time on the dragon level before being respawned in the side-on camera angle but not in a platformer section.  Would be good to have player health bar and some hit feedback on the mobs.  But having complained about all that, one of the two best entries in SFAS, IMHO. Fun art style, lovely use of camera changes, and just feels good to play. Well done.

Just as a note, I chose to enter in both competitions due to the fact that I'm graduating in 2019 so qualify for rising star and the submission did not specify "pick one".  However my initial intention was to only enter into Search For A Star. So if I'm only allowed to enter in one please default me into the Search For A Star tier. Cheers to whoever's reading this!
