Really great work. I was impressed by the way your design document focussed in on the programming and took the definite decision to avoid over-working the environment, and I think that really paid off in terms of the amount of content. The game was also really well balanced in the number of zombies, rate of fire (the rifle being slow but more damage was nice) and the right availability of ammo. The aiming line was also good. A few small things I'd tidy up - when you die pause the background game in the enter name overlay or you get unnecessary weapon fires, and maybe consider going slightly isometric - say 10 or 20 degrees off vertical as the jump mechanic seems a bit odd in purely top down. There's also a bit of a cheat you might want to address - if you press two keys and move diagonally you go faster than just N, E, S or W - you can adjust for that by dividing the speed by root(2) when going diagonally. In the future the game could also be improved by using Craig Reynolds flocking techniques on the zombies - if used correctly it would stop them forming lines and make it a bit harder to aim - I found I could get them in at a room edge and kill them easily when they came in a line. Also a health pickup, probably in the bathroom. Generally though - great effort.
