Solid core gameplay loop with progression and high scores. Good workflow & production process, especially considering the timeframe, though would have been nice to see more developed features.
Really liked this, it's a simple idea but very well executed.
My immediate feedback would be to change the background. The dark blue with black text is a little dark but it's a minor issue. A more exciting representation of the height would also be really nice.
The player feedback is good with the highlighted text and the timeout wheels and the steady difficulty increase felt right.
Overall I think this is a great little game and with a solid concept and execution.
This is a great unique concept for a game - as you say it doesn't take much from the starter project but you won't hear any complaints from me on that front. The game so far appears to be implemented pretty well, source code is, of course, not considered as part of these reviews so I can't comment on that but the game held up nicely to my playing.
Understandably given a lot of the basics had to be redone there isn't a great deal to the game, it might have been nice to see changing backgrounds (even if they were just block colours for now) as you progress to new heights or maybe some particle effects which can do double justice as distractions for a player trying to focus on words and celebrations for how far they've got. Though the line showing your previous high score was naturally appreciated, additionally it looked like the score may have just been a factor of time rather than based on actual completed words which is slightly odd.
For your text issues I'd recommend you check out TextMeshPro which is a former Asset Store plugin which has been bought out and built into Unity https://blogs.unity3d.com/2018/10/16/making-the-most-of-textmesh-pro-in-unity-20...
For more complex Text cases it should provide you the quality you seek as long as you configure it right.
