New Year, New Adventures

Heroes of Cerulea is an adventure tabletop role-playing game where you explore dungeons, fight monsters, solve puzzles, gather keys, find new items, and defeat bosses. Lo-fi art and rules; high playability. It’s heavily inspired by the classic Legend of Zelda games and by old-school role-playing.

This year, we’re inviting all creators to join the Seasons of Cerulea challenge!

The Jam

Throughout 2025, design one dungeon room or Overworld location every week and share your progress on social media with #seasonsofcerulea (and in the #jam-chat channel on our Discord server). Join or leave the challenge anytime—no pressure!

You might aim for one themed dungeon per quarter, using the first week of each quarter to decide the theme and architecture, boss, and special item. Suggested themes for inspiration:

Jan–Mar: Snow, Darkness, Stone, Crystal, Star

Apr–Jun: Water, Wind, Forest, Flower, Sky

Jul–Sep: Fire, Light, Sun, Sand, Jungle

Oct–Dec: Swamp, Mist, Mushroom, Ghost, Moon

Feel free to post your finished dungeons or Overworld locations to this jam too. It stays open until January 31 2026, so you have time to finish December too.

Tips

Keep It Simple. Heroes of Cerulea is “lo-fi art and rules; high playability”. It doesn’t have to be perfect, proficient, or pretty—make something and it will be better than nothing.

Be Careful. While Heroes of Cerulea is an unabashed love letter to The Legend of Zelda, the latter also has copyrights that you need to respect. Make sure to appropriately file off any serial numbers to protect yourself against legal consequences.

Use the Templates (If You Want To). The Heroes of Cerulea Community Content package contains a Graphic Charter with guidelines for fonts and colors, layout templates for Adobe InDesign and Affinity Publisher, as well as graphic elements that can be used to create maps. You decide whether you stick to those things, use parts, or take your design in an entirely different direction.

Let’s fill 2025 with creativity!
