Hello!
We are a small community of beginners and rookies who want to get used to the process of starting and finishing projects, no matter the size. Hopefully over the course of this Series of STP Jams we get to see how each of us improves (lewlhere#6286 Discord for information)
As this is our first Jam there will be no Ranking.
RULES:
• Submit a game, it doesnt matter if it's a single level, if it's buggy, if you don't feel super comfy with the result or if you didn't get to implement all the features you would've liked to - this is to learn, practice, improve, get feedback of the community and generally see what we can or can't do.
• This will be the only STP Jam where Groups are a No-No. The idea is to get familiar with the process of the Game-Making process, start to finish.
• Familiarize yourself with Github (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpXxcvS-g3g) - or other tools to keep track of what you accomplished, what you changed and to enable an easy contribution of your project in the end. I'm not entirely sure myself if GitHub and posting your game on the Jam-Website is all that's required for future Jams, but for this one it will be.
• Enjoy yourself. Feel free to post stuff you come up with in 🥂-show-your-progress in the Time-Window of the Jam. Ask stuff, this is not a competition, even though future Jams might feel like it. This is a collaboration of everyone getting their feet wet in Game-Dev territory!
• Lastly I know we have a couple of people in here that have no / barely Unity or Unreal experience and exclusively do Blender-Work. For you there's 2 ways: Instead of a game you can create assets / graphics / whatever else Blender has to offer that suit the Theme of the Jam best (revealed 1 hour before Jam-Start). It will be interesting to see what you can create within 8 days from scratch regarding a specific topic - keeping you own style of course. You can also say "f it, I'll skip this Jam and wait for the next" because beginning STP #2 you will be able to group up and e.g. have 1 Asset- and 1 Unity/Unreal-Person work together to make something super exciting.
This Jam works as a preparation for the STP-Community to prepare for the GameDev.TV-Gamejam.
Good Luck Everyone & Enjoy The Ride! <3
