How does your project relate to the theme? (Optional)
The app was built to help raise awareness of the effects of rising sea levels due to climate change. We hope to show that AR can be used in a practical way to "Do Good ARound Us" by showing the sea level changes first hand through AR visualisation whilst explaining the science and repercussions of not taking action.

How have you innovated on this product? (Optional)
It was our first product built with URP and Lightship together, and our first where getting more precise measurements (as we are showing sea levels in metres) was important.

How does it speak to Niantic's mission? (Optional)
Niantic want to use technology to serve humanity, and what is more important than helping raise awareness of climate change - one of humanity's growing concerns that threatens all of our way of life.

How complete is your project? (Optional)
It is a prototype that does what we intended to do — however, we do hope to expand it before releasing it in app stores. We still want to keep it a small and simple experience but would like to tidy up how well the meshing and water levels are handled in larger areas where the mesh is not fully known yet. May need some Lightship team guidance on the best way to handle that one!

Niantic Judge Feedback (Dan Atkins, Product Manager)

Using real world scale to illustrate the challenges of climate change is a great concept. One thing I'd like to see is more robustness around this idea. Can I see what my house would look like in Miami versus Denver in each of these scenarios? Are there other ways of illustrating this problem to show the impact? The water level alone is promising but feels like its missing something.

Lightship Leader Judge Feedback (Diego Aguirre)

This is one of my favorite samples for this mini Jam. The UX and UI seems are all designed around raising awareness. I think the storytelling was well presented, its all about make you aware. I do feel that for the next time it would be nice if some photos of places with the before and after could be showed while raising the water. This way you could connect with the places. Even do this might be tricky, it would help the user connect with the place to see the before and after. Great effort for the team for this short amount of time. This project is really in tune with the theme of this jam! Congratulations.

This addresses the assignment very well. I like the complete story around the application and the use of open data.

I like this a lot! It gave me such a better visual of just how much it can rise.

It is so great the idea of visualization the water height changed.  If there are some thing could also float on the water surface would be interesting.
