- Contestant: @Amber cook Assessor: Tristan McGuire / @Draconic_Cowboy Tier: Rising Star Congrats on completing your project! Things that went well: ✧ Nice to see some drawing and concept work. ✧ Well done on using a rig. Things to consider next time: ✧ Make sure when creating documentation that you explain in detail any creative decisions made or challenges faced during the production stage. ✧ When UV unwrapping, try to make the islands as straight and aligned to the grid as possible, as this allows you to pack them into the square more efficiently. Even an organic form can be cut in such a way that many of the parts can be straightened. ✧ When texturing, you can use an ID map within Substance Painter to easily apply materials to certain areas. But the idea is that you are doing this on one single material. You then export the whole texture as one and apply it to the model in engine with no need for any ID maps or multiple textures. Yes, ID maps can be used in engine, but not for the purpose that you have used them. ✧ Keep practising your sculpting skills and really look into facial anatomy and the planes of the face. As you are in the Rising Star tier, I hope this feedback can be used to inform how you approach future university projects and I would love to see you take part in the competition again next year! You can find me on the social medias in the link below. Feel free to reach out in the future. All the best! https://draconic-cowboy.carrd.co/ - Tristan, Character Artist at Airship Interactive.
