  • Contestant: Eti Udosen / @Eti ini Assessor: Tristan McGuire / @Draconic_Cowboy Tier: Search For A Star Congrats on completing your project! This is a really strong project and I hope you are proud of what you have achieved! It is also great to see that you have very strong self reflection skills and an eagerness to continue to learn. These are much needed skills in a studio environment. Things that went well: ✧ Great use of high level skills in Zbrush such as Zmodeller and surface noise. ✧ Use of Marvelous Designer worked well. ✧ Nice topology. Great to see you referencing the game that inspired the model. ✧ Great to see you using a rig. That’s a skill that goes above and beyond expectations. ✧ Detailed documentation. Things to consider next time: ✧ As you highlighted in your document, try to avoid baking each subtool individually, as this is not standard practice. Look into bake groups in Marmoset. This allows you to bake everything at once without the need to explode the pieces. It also allows for AO to correctly bake across all the parts. ✧ As you also highlighted, when UV unwrapping, try to make the islands as straight and aligned to the grid as possible, as this allows you to pack them into the square more efficiently I hope this feedback proves useful and will help you with future projects and building your portfolio. You can find me on the social medias in the link below. Feel free to reach out in the future. All the best! https://draconic-cowboy.carrd.co/ - Tristan, Character Artist at Airship Interactive.
  • Wow! This is a really impressive submission, I wouldn't beat yourself up so much about the technical side because it's all about continuously improving. Keep it up! Here are some links to help you with the points you'd like to improve on: -Baking: Learn to bake by mesh name in Substance Painter using cages to your advantage: https://substance3d.adobe.com/documentation/bake/matching-by-name-182256530.html How do I get high poly's without ruining my PC? There is a method for this in Maya, but you may have to check out if there is a similar alternative for 3DSMax: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MapL3OQQn_g&ab_channel=FlippedNormals Retopology from Marvelous Designer: https://youtu.be/o_Q-N8CoyCU I hope this helps!
