  • Assessor: Anthony O Donnell - Art Director @d3t Submission: Aztec Throne Temple The research undertaken clearly influenced the final piece. There was a good variety of useful reference gathered. The document was well presented and written. The scene largely achieves the style it sets out to emulate. The component based approach is sensible and efficient to build up a kit of elements which were used to construct the scene. Sculpts look good with some nice detailing that transferred well to the textures. The asset modelling is clean with good polygon distribution. The majority of the textures were uniquely baked. This style of scene would get a higher texel density utilising tileable textures and trims sheets more mixed with baked elements for variation. Texel density itself is a little inconsistent in areas. The texturing looks good at a mid distance but does not hold up as well when the camera gets close. The detail in the diffuse textures is a bit soft, more work needs to be done with the diffuse to define a style and getting some more visual information into them. Generally the colour palette was less vibrant and saturated as many of the reference images. This could be intentional but does lose some of the charm of the inspirational images.
