  • Well done on taking this project to a very different point, with turn-based gameplay and a wealth of interesting actions for the player. I found it difficult to finish the mission, and the game would have benefited of more balancing, and probably more signposting in the game UI. The game sets a great mood with the colors and the music.
  • Gameplay Overall the gameplay is very enjoyable and representative of the type of game you wanted to make While I know it’s intentional to gain AP after a kill, at first I thought it was a bug. Some indication that this gaining of AP would be good It’s not always clear which unit’s turn it is Changing the color of the indicator above the unit would have helped with this Game is hard. That is not inherently bad, but a difficulty setting may have been nice UI/UX Did a good job picking out the icons, tools tips were an added bonus Your units HP/AP bars clip into the scenery, which makes them hard to read They also flip at odd angles when viewed from above Having a volume control was good Good presentation on unit information Features Having sound effects and music is a nice touch Music ends abruptly sometimes Tooltips are very useful How to page was well presented All the features one would expect from a tactical game are present and functional Creativity, Design & Originality While simple, the environment looks nice and conveys what it needs to Layout of level was designed good The added viewpoint from a unit was a nice addition While not totally original, it was executed well. Summary: Overall I think this has accomplished what it set out to do. It’s presented well and with sometime for polish for animations, I think this could be a good portfolio piece.
  • I think this was a great game, and just wanted to give some general feedback: 1. In your report, you said that there was more you would have liked to do, but decided to polish instead. This is great! With something like this, its really important to make sure that you what deliver is polished and bug free. Create a very polished vertical slice of what the game represents, instead of trying to cover loads of things, none of which are fully implemented. 2. I found the order that the zombies would do things quite confusing. Some times they would move during my turn, other times afterwards. This made it difficult to plan ahead as things would happen whilst I was executing my turn. Having something on screen which would tell you when things would be done, would be quite helpful. 3. In one turn, a horde was discovered, a civilian killed, and a teammate killed. However, all this text appeared at once and on top of each other. Spacing out the feedback and making it more methodical (i.e. camera cuts), or adding a log would make sure that each thing wouldn't be missed. 4. Think of adding some kind of Fog of War effect, or something to make the player know which areas are safe to roam. I sent one of my players to go rescue a civilian thinking it was safe, to then have 3 zombies spawn and surround him. Having something to distinguish 'safe' areas would be helpful. 5. In a game like this, it would be very useful to have difficulty options. For this assignment, it doesn't need to be amazingly well balanced or with lots of levers, something as simple as the amount of zombies to spawn in a horde would do. Just some options to try and make your game as inclusive as possible. As I said, this is a great achievement and something you should be proud of making!
  • This is a really good project. I would recommend improving the shooting because it feels very jarring compared to the rest of the game play. especially how you select which enemy to shoot. The background music also doesn't loop, I don't know if that's intentional or a bug.
  • Nice tactical that has a cool concept with looking around with the camera to get a FPS view. Could be a bit more clear on feedback to know when you validate an attack or another action Sounds effects are well done and give a nice atmosphere to the game.
