the “i’m not your mom” clause: most of these rules are more like suggestions (and we will make clear which ones are not). this is supposed to be an ambitious challenge, but one with a chill enough community. the ultimate goal is to make things. please adjust in just about whatever way you need to to achieve that goal!

the goal: shit out ten solo ttrpgs over the course of the month of may. these should be no more than one page. these don’t have to be nicely laid out pdfs or anything like that. each ttrpg should use unique mechanics; recycling isn’t forbidden, but you shouldn’t write a bunch of games that are the exact same mechanic but with different story flavor.

the purpose: get out there and make something! stop getting caught up in the trappings of perfection! just shit it out and get it on the table and move on with your life and onto the next thing! come back to it to refine it sometime if you really want to but my god just get it done!!!

wait but what’s a solo game?
a tabletop roleplaying game designed to be played by one person! you can find some examples in courtney's witch-themed solo game collection or her “secret box” collection. many solo games are something like guided writing prompts.

things you can submit:

  • tabletop roleplaying games
  • all of your games at once in a big compilation
  • one game at a time
  • stuff you made during the jam period
  • stuff you planned before the jam period
  • stuff you kinda like started working on before the jam but finished (or “finished”) because the jam inspired you to
  • the most bizarre mechanic you can think of that doesn’t violate the below list
  • lyric games
  • things you haven’t even bothered to playtest
  • hacks of existing games
  • games designed to be played with one or more people, as long as one person can comfortably play the game on their own
  • more than 10 games
  • a compilation at the end where you're like "i meant to do 10 games but only did a smaller number but here's what i finished"

things you can’t submit (”i’m not your mom” clause ceases applying):

  • bigoted content
  • stuff completed and/or released before the jam
  • ai created or assisted content
  • analog/video games
  • unlabeled nsfw

hey why is this poop themed
this started out as a joke where one of us said "what if i start just making shitty solo games and publishing them as-is just to get them done" and we took it too far

join the official discord here!! we promise this one isn't poop themed https://discord.com/invite/FfFs7bHQ
