Fun, but tedious at times, though the tedious is part of the joke so
I've got mixed feelings on this one. On one hand, I love the gimmick, the writing is pretty funny, it has some interesting gameplay mechanics. But on the other hand, some of the fights can be particularly frustrating, nearing all of them feel like they go on twice as long as they should if their associated jokes were to hit at peak comedic timing, and some of the stage gimmicks are extremally annoying. I commend the amount of work that went into this one, although I do feel like it very much overstays its welcome too. Let me tell you, while there are 120 stages in this game, there are not 120 stages worth of unique, entertaining ideas.
In my opinion the best way to play this game is almost like a visual novel. The gam graciously gives you the ability to skip battles and I recommend using this liberally if you're looking to see it through to the end. The writing is the best party anyway, so playing in this fashion really helps it play to its strengths.
Sorry if this sounds a but harsh but I would still say I overall enjoyed my time with this one. It's a genuinely funny idea for a game that has a lot of highlights and interesting gimmicks to play around with, but it can be a little boring. Check it out if you want!
Great game. Can accomodate also shmuppers from beginners to veterans alike, especially if you are a fan of many bullet hell titles like Raiden Fighters or Ketsui. The layout seems very much inspired from the classic MSX game Knightmare, which is a good twist for a fantasy shmup.
