I just started the game but I'm very confused on something, I might sound dumb but where  would I have to go to heal the character.

Developer

Sorry for the late reply!

The only way to heal is to use potions or, if you're playing as the Blue class, use the Water Shell skill. There are no inns in this game, but it's a very short game, so you should be able to beat it despite that.

Nice and short! Combat was about as good as Dragon Quest's! I did grind to level 3, and this didn't feel like a chore, so the length was perfect for a game with random encounters and mazes. Despite the short length, getting those level ups and ultimate flail felt good.

Developer

Awww, you're too kind! I'm glad to hear that the grind wasn't too much. Thanks for playing, Human!

So I'm not voting bc I did not reach the ending, and I am super biased, so it wouldn't be fair to vote! I really am not a fan of random encounters, and with game jams I want them to be quite and not frustrating/too challenging battle included, I died a few times, and tried to focus more on the battle mechanics. But with how time crunched I am these days, the boss was frustrating me and taking too much retries xD (that's a me problem, not a you problem) it was a preference thing! I liked that it wasn't too long, short and sweet. I'm probably going to watch what I missed, It looks like you thought about the battle mechanics primary

I highkey need a bit more story or a hook to be interested in anything with battles generally, so it was a little hard for me to want to keep trying xD I also kind of suck at games and I'm super impatient, so that's on me. I think the character selection and type was cute and fun, it seems like you know what you are doing battle wise.

Developer

I agree that the final battle is too much and needs some adjusting. I'm glad you were able to get that far, though! You'll probably like my other entries better. Thanks for playing and giving feedback!

It's pretty clear that you weren't giving this game your full focus, but it was still well put together all things considered! It was fun to see some of my battlers in action, and I did like how the battles had some challenge without being overwhelming.

I also have to second the dislike of the mazes. Those would have been better off as simpler rooms that you decorated with spooky tiles and made some of the items rewards for combat instead of the tiny hallways on each map.

I love your side view enemy battlers, so thanks for making them, and I'm glad you liked how I used them!

Also, thank you for the feedback. It's all helping me learn to be a better game designer.

That was a cute, simple game. I wish there was a little bit more about why we're fighting the cult or why they're summoning Satan, but I also understand that that lore isn't really needed. I felt like the gameplay was really simple, but I did like the battle sprites. I also love that you can choose your own character.

One thing I did NOT like were the mazes. I'm glad that you kept them very short and somewhat linear, and I did like that there were treasures scattered all over the place. That made the mazes feel less tedious. All in all, you did a good job. I can see some potential here if you ever want to expand the game in the future.

Developer

Thanks! I must admit that this game is quite undercooked due to me developing it in parallel with my group project and getting sidetracked by various factors. Even so, I did what I set out to do, and your feedback is exactly what I wanted to receive from it, so it’s an all-around win in my book!
