SplitDay Game Jam

Welcome to the SplitDay Game Jam! This unique jam offers you the flexibility to develop a game over a week, with a total of 24 hours of active development time. Plan your schedule, unleash your creativity, and join in this exciting challenge!

Theme: Out of Control

Design a game where the controls are unconventional, surprising, or change over time. From one-button mechanics to voice commands or dynamically shifting inputs, let your creativity redefine how players interact with your game!

How It Works

  • Development Time: You have a total of 24 hours to work on your game.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Distribute these 24 hours in any way you prefer over the course of a week.
  • Focus Areas: Time spent on art, music, sound effects, and coding counts toward the 24 hours. The time it takes to plan, package, and create your itch.io page is excluded.

Submission Requirements

  • Time Log: Include the total number of hours spent on development (art, music, SFX, and code; planning excluded).
  • Contributors: Who contributed on this game? Please include the links to each person's itch.io page (or their name) and what they did (e.g. https://brookec123.itch.io  -> level design).
  • Game Design Document (Optional): If possible, provide a link to a Google Doc of your Game Design Document (GDD). Here is an example for a game following the theme of "Always up": https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RFVQtI2LK3jf9laEwKyulD7E4l8Oly6cDST-p83O3rA/...
  • Platform Compatibility: Your game must be playable on LinuxWindows, and/or HTML with a preference for HTML/browser-based games.

Rules

  • Team Composition: Open to solo developers and teams.
  • Pre-made Assets: Permitted with proper credit.
  • Conduct: Maintain respect and professionalism throughout the jam.
