I had this game downloaded for a while already.
Just played yesterday, AND NOW I REGRET THAT I'VE WAITED FOR SO LONG TO DO SO. I'M IN LOVE. t.t
Thanks a lot for this wonderful experience!!!!!
I come back to Manlybadasshero's gameplay of this. Theres something so relatable about Vivians character and story. Ive always called this tragically beautiful and I find it really comforting.
An excellent comedy visual novel with some light horror elements. Love the art style and the facial expressions. The writing is superb. The author really nailed down making the MC awkward without making him too cringe from the reader's perspective, and makes it funny as a result. Probably one of the few visual novels/game on itch that managed to make me chuckle multiple times. Also like how the story handles a high schooler having a crush on an adult (I'm assuming Evelyn is an adult since she works), how she tries to let him down easily, and it's realistically awkward for both of them while still remaining funny for readers; you don't see that type of scenario pulled off much in games or visual novels.
Only actual complaint is when getting the other endings, I wish there was a skip button on the screen (I forgot what keybind Ren'Py uses for it) so you can skip the dialogue you already saw. When Virtual Evelyn gets creepy or evil, I wish her glitchy designs contrasted more with the other characters to make her more imposing to give the players goosebumps and make the player think "this thing doesn't belong in this world and is scary".
If the author expands on this and decides to make it a full VN, maybe after playing through the main routes or getting either the neutral or good ending, there can be other what-if routes open; one where the MC makes the AI his girlfriend before it becomes evil considering how socially awkward he is, one where the AI fuses with the real Evelyn and the MC doesn't know at first and has to deal with the aftermath, one where instead of digitally replicating Evelyn in the AI he puts in a fictional or anime character he likes instead of a human. Also like the ManlyBadassHero reference. Wish there was a steam release so it can reach a wider audience. Looking forward to the author makes next.
The gay 80's horror film we've all been waiting for
