Welcome to a 5-week Paper Mario modding jam, hosted by Star Haven.

This jam focuses on just one battle. Make the best fight that you can. Perhaps you add some cool new mechanics, such as badges or items, into the mix. Maybe you could remake your favourite boss fight from any other game.

Rules

• Submission must be a mod/romhack of any Paper Mario series game in the form of a patch file or a LayeredFS archive.
• Submission includes exactly one custom battle, no other encounters. The battle may be multi-phase.
• Submission must take place on at most two maps, e.g. one for setup (badge equipment / teaching) and one for the fight itself. The number of maps does not include stages (occasionally called 'battle maps').
• Submission must be open source.
• Submission must be suitable for, at max, age 16. No swearing or NSFW please! - respect the IP.
• Teams of any size are allowed.
• Using existing work is allowed (you might want to check out the #asset-sharing channel of our Discord server).

Do I have to have modded Paper Mario before to join this jam?

Absolutely not! Check out our lovely documentation.

Prize

The winner may choose a charity* with which the jam organisers will donate approx. 60 GBP to. We may also throw a few Steam keys into the prize pool too depending on how many people join.

* Subject to organiser approval.

Judging

Judging is public and open. Entries are ranked on the following criteria:

• Wow! factor
• Fun (did you enjoy it?)
• Aesthetics (art, music, etc.)
• Innovation (did it do something new?)
