Tha-lass-o-pho-bi-a 

noun

       An intense fear of large bodies of water such as the sea, oceans, pools, or lakes.

Water subsumes 71% of the Earth. Even so, less than one tenth of the ocean has been explored. What might lie beneath such a comforting façade? For some, every visit to the beach holds a taste of dread-- a reminder that we are small, subject to nature's fickle will.

The Thalassophobia Game Jam will be a month-long celebration of Earth's unknown depths. 

Theme 

• Create something that embodies "thalassophobia" to you. From high pressure submarine expeditions to Antarctic whaling. If you're just here for the aesthetic, that's fine too!
• Some inspiration off the top of my head: Subnautica,  Endless Ocean, SOMA, In the Heart of the Sea, JAWS or even the collected works of HP Lovecraft.
• This is not limited to the ocean or lakes. Let's get creative!

Rules

• Submit as many entries as you want.
• Submissions must be free, at least for the extent of the jam
• Submissions should be completed during the jam
• Use any engine to complete your project! (Please understand that tabletop games will be more difficult to test)
• You may want to  push boundaries by exploring uncomfortable or upsetting themes. If this is the case, you are encouraged to provide content warnings for your submissions.
