About

Thinkable Jam is a 96 hour game jam that encourages thought. Most game jams have a theme or even two. This jam has far more! A host/judge will provide a new theme/asset/challenge every so often. These don't  have to be used but will earn you more points. The themes change every so often, encouraging jammers to think of how to implement them into their game. These games will be exciting to play! All games will be voted on and the top games will be played and voted on by the judges live either on twitch or YouTube.

The theme cutoff is at a max of 2 per day.

You do not have to use all of the themes. The more you use, the more points.

Rules

• Any game engine (GMS2, Unity, Godot, Scratch, PowerPoint)
• pre-made engines (platformer engines, etc.) are allowed.
•  Blood and gore is allowed.
• Pixel art isn't required, but the sprites provided by the judges are pixel art. (dimensions are under 64x64)
• Teams are allowed. A special discord channel will be made for finding teams.
• Projects cannot be started before the jam
• Pre-made assets from marketplaces/engine stores are allowed
• Pre-made engines (example: platformer engine/FPS engine) are not recommended, but are allowed.
• Try to make your project as original as possible.
•  Credit anyone that you used music/code from
• It is OK to use copyright free music (https://freemusicarchive.org/) just credit if possible.
• Text based games are allowed.
• Judges can participate but cannot win.

Challenges (optional)

If you did a challenge, please let us know when you submit! The jam hosts will judge the winners of each challenge. 

Challenges are announced at random. They could include anything. EXAMPLE:  (snap to a grid or low gravity)

Make sure to say which challenge(s) you did before submitting. Each winner of a challenge ranks up on the discord server

Voting

After the jam, there will be a five day voting period. Only submitters and contributors can vote. Games are ranked on the following criteria:

• Use of Themes
• Gameplay
• Overall Execution
•  Challenges (decided by jam hosts)

Jammers who place in the top 5 overall will receive a judge role for the next jam and a leader role. These roles allow you to come up with new themes and challenges for the next jam.
