Inspired by, by which I mean ripped entirely off of, the annual RPG Geek challenge of the same premise—2025's is here!

let's take ibuprofen make ttrpg characters together

(can i reference that meme here)

join the discord if you want!

The Challenge

create a ttrpg character every day in march—that's 31 characters! use any* system(s) you want. make all your characters in one system, or showcase 31 different systems, or do anything in between. they don't even have to be systems you've actually played. make a d&d character if you want and make them at level 1, or level 20. there's a lot of flexibility in how you want to engage in this challenge, but there's some more details below!

Guidelines

  • absolutely no generative ai allowed for anything at all.
    • *did you see that asterisk up there? the exception to "any system" is don't use any systems that use generative ai
    • check out the random generators thread in the jam forum for prompt generators that aren't ai instead!
  • you don't actually need to complete them literally one character a day—make a few in one day, take a break for the week, it's all good!
  • complete these characters to whatever extent feels right for you. that might mean only coming up with their stats, but it could also mean giving them a backstory and some art, too! in a system with levels or other advancement, you might make a fully advanced character build or just their out-of-the-box beginning stats. not all characters even need to be equally complete.
    • if you do give your character art, make sure you have full permission to use it—that means no googling "sexy elf wizard" and grabbing the pinterest result that pops up and calling it a day.
    • check out the character art collection i've set up if you want assets, and suggest more for the collection in the jam forum thread!
  • you can start plotting and preparing whenever, but please don't make any characters until march begins!

Submissions

formats in which you can submit your characters:

  • one big pdf you create at the end of the challenge
  • one big google doc or word document you create at the end of the challenge
  • a bunch of individual pdfs or word documents or filled out character sheets submitted every time you finish a character
  • a txt document you wrote in notepad
  • a bunch of txt documents you wrote in notepad
  • the three character sheets you actually finished before forgetting about the jam
  • have you realized yet that i don't especially care how the submissions are done

consider making an itch collection or an rpggeek list of the systems you used!

submissions close on 4/7 to give everyone time to compile all their work together if they'd like to, but you're asked not to work on things after march 31st!
