Have you never made a game, but always wanted to?
Are you new to game development?
Are you intimidated by the big gap between starting to learn how to make a game, and creating something tangible and unique?
This is for you! Welcome to the Tutorial Jam!

Build a basic game tutorial and then modify it to make it your own.

How does this work?

  • Day The-rest-of-the-jam : Keep messing around with it, changing stuff, and making it your own.
  • Day The-rest-of-your-life : You are now a game developer. Go fourth and make games!

What is this?

I've heard "I wish I could make games" so many times in my life as a game developer. My reaction is always the same... "YOU TOTALLY CAN!" There are as many game engines as there are games these days* and they'll do lots of the hard stuff for you. The hardest part is starting. That's where tutorials come in. Grab one and follow it and you've made something. Now you're a game developer too! Now that you've got something spend a little time with it, change some things around, make a big mess! Now you're a seasoned game developer.

Already an experienced game developer?

Great! Choose an engine you've never used or just hang out and help the beginners. Join the jam. Make something messy and share it with us. Learn something new with us. Team and Solo projects are both welcome. Nothing will be judged. There's no penalty for not finishing. There are no prizes because you're already a winner. It's going to be fun!

The boring stuff I have to say...

  • This is a Jam so it's got to be your own original work created during the jam. That's what a jam is.
  • It is not okay to simply submit an old project as a jam entry. I know it's tough to get noticed, but spamming a jam isn't the way. I'm sorry. I will remove your entry if I believe this is what you're doing.
  • Don't come here just to advertise your paid tutorials.  Seriously.

You can totally do this. Just sign up.

A take on the roll-a-ball tutorial!
Ball tutorial I turned into a short platformer. First game I've made so I put a lot of time and fun into it.
