Welcome to UMM-GCU Gamejam 2022. The collaborative event is the first collaborative event between the institutions to build relationships and to give experience for the students in international collaborations. This gamejam event requires the students to collaborate in groups to create games.

Prize money is available for the top 3 groups:

1st place: £150

2nd place: £125

3rd place: £100

    3. Matchmaking (2 days: 20th August – 21st August 2022)
    4. Final Team Registration and Releasing Project Specification to the groups (1 day: 22nd August 2022 at 23:59pm)
    5. Group Brainstorms (1 day: 23rd August 2022)
    6. Competition (5 days: 24th August – 28th August 2022)
    7. Project Grading by the panel (1 day: 29th August 2022)
    8. Prize Presentation and Closing Ceremony (Online: 30th August 2022)


The registration is free and the students from GCU can register by contacting mario.soflano@gcu.ac.uk (Discord: MarioSoflano#3996) and for UMM students please contact ardi@umm.ac.id (Discord: yuardian#9530). For registration, please include your information: 1) full name 2) programme 3) year of study 4) main skills 5) interest.

Registered participants can join the Events Discord on https://discord.gg/n3tFmzjJnN. Please use your Full Name followed by your institutions (for example: MarioSoflanoGCU) as your nickname on the Events Discord.

Matchmaking session is intended to give opportunities for the participants to contact each other to form groups. There is no maximum number of the members on each group however each group should have at least a member from both institutions. Ideally each group should have at least a programmer, a designer and an artist however the group will have freedom to decide on this. For those who can not attend the Matchmaking session and failed to form a group will be either assigned automatically into the groups or dropped out of the event. 

The theme of the games to be developed will be discussed by the board of judges. The groups will work independently with main communications via Discord while other collaborative platforms such as Github, GoogleDrive, Trello etc are permitted. A representative from GCU and UMM should be also included in the group’s Discord.

Rules, terms and conditions

  1. open to students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang and Glasgow Caledonian University.
  2. Registration is made through UMM and GCU representatives (ardi@umm.ac.id and mario.soflano@gcu.ac.uk) with details such as (name, email, college/university, course and Discord ID)
  3. On the matchmaking sessions, the participants will be added to the event’s Discord server which the participants will talk to each other about their experience to form teams. The teams is maximum 6 members with ideally at least 1 programmer, 1 designer and 1 artists.
  4. Upon completing the team, one member of each team, as team leader, has to register the team on the event’s discord by 22 August 2022 (at midnight GMT+1).
  5. Each team should create their own Discord channel and invite the representative from UMM and GCU (MarioSoflano#3996) on to the channel
  6. The specification including the theme and the rules together with details of what and how to submit their games will be posted on the team’s Discord server and the event’s website on the 22nd August after the team registration
  7. The groups will communicate and work independently.
  8. Any resources used in the game to be submitted should have reference and acknowledgement to avoid plagiarism. Please note that submitting a full game with identical mechanics from online resources (with only cosmetic modifications) is not allowed - the game has to fit the theme and have uniqueness / originality.
  9. The games must be in English.
  10. The games including its trailer will be made available on the event’s website. The games will be voted by the panel of judges. The decision by the panel is final.
