I like the visuals and game play, however it may be because i'm not to good at these kind of games but I wasn't able to get out of the starting area :(.
I found the player a bit to fast in the air, and so it was difficult to aim him, along with the amount of spikes on the ground… I saw bats a lot.
If there were checkpoints, or a way to move slower I may have been able to get further? Though the difficulty may be what you're aiming for, i’m not the best game player. Still it was fun to get around to this, it seems to be a good package, if only I could manage it
I am sorry to say that I suck at it too, and therefor didn't really see much of the later parts of the gamer. I did really enjoy the animations and the artwork, it's well done. I just wish those spikes didn't kill me instantly, trying over from the start got frustrating really fast. Also, when I dropped down the first part of the level, I had a hard time getting up. And only after like 9 tries I realized you could just jump from above and make it easily. Maybe my fault, but still, it would be easier if I could get a feeling for the controls first, before I get an option to f myself over like that.
Nice graphics, love the death animation! Controls feel fine overall, just had a problem with it constantly grabbing wall/platforms automatically and the having to jump to the side. Died many times because of this hehe
Hi! Tried your game, but I have to say, I SUCK at it (which is pretty fitting for a vampire jam game, I gotta say :D). The only problem I stumbled upon was how weird the jumps felt - the side jump is WAY faster and goes further than the upper jump, which made it very awkward for me to estimate my jumps. Died on these heckin' spikes tons of times. What I loved the most were the graphics - good job on that!
This is so much fun. I spent like 20+ minutes trying to beat this. I can't say I regret it. I actually like the fact you can't just drop down, as it adds to the challenge. Great job. Also the boss fight shouldn't be cheese-able with death cards. Maybe give a shorter stun on just the boss? Or else they'll miss some of your animations.
Thanks so much for the playthrough! As it turns out, you CAN just drop off the wall, but you have to hold away for too long for it to be fluid. Lesson learned
Man that platforming can be unforgiving, took me a few tried to get judgedethed. But really cute game! The character sprite's adorable, sounds are good, controls are solid. I didn't know what the lover card was for? There were only two things that bothered me:
1. I couldn't just drop down from a wall I was hanging on, maybe there's a way and I just didn't see it, but I had to hop off, which caused my death a couple times. After a while I got used to it, but I did miss that mechanic.
2. I totally missed the snakes going through the first time or two. I only saw the start of their animation running by, and thought it was just like a spooky effect because I never got to the point of seeing their head emerge. A little more guidance there would've been nice for the idiots like me of the world.
But it was fun to play! Good length and a good level of challenge, took some re-tries but not to the point of being frustrating.
Thanks for the playthrough! We wanted to make you HAVE to defeat a snake, see a torch light up, and THEN be allowed to explore the rest of the level. But, we ran outta time. Your feedback about the snakes being too obtuse is spot-on and I totally agree.
You CAN drop off a wall by holding away from the wall for 0.2 seconds, but that is too long. He also too eagerly clings to walls, and the trajectory coming off the wall is totally wonky! I think that part needs a huge amount of tuning.
The Lover card was going to provide you with immunity to spikes, hence the extremely difficult and frankly kinda BS platforming section.
Thank you so much for the playthrough! I'll make sure to go play through yours!
That was actually exactly what I was picturing, a forced snake fight. But if that's the kind of stuff you didn't have time for, I think you guys did a pretty great job. For most of us the things we don't have time for are finishing assets, or getting the code to work :d
Ah, I thought maybe I was just dense about the wall dropping. I actually kind of liked his wall antics aside, he was like a happy little spider monkey.
