We love pets. You love pets. Everybody loves pets. Who doesn't love pets? We all love pets.

And we wanna make some new pets... some new friends!

So we're going to - and we're gonna do it in 72 hours... give or take, because we like pets but we also have day jobs and you can't give a pet appropriate attention if you're stressed out.

Prizes, Prizes, Prizes!

Submissions will be judged, and the winners will enjoy:

• Scallywag status on Rousr's Discord and Gitlab - a special Discord role and access to all of Rousr's current GameMaker Extensions source in addition to some other goodies.
• An awesome Rousr Sticker Pack provided you give us a mailing address upon winning.
• Finally, offering a Logitech G502 Gaming Mouse!

* Eligibilty for Physical Prizes may depend on your physical location. Anywhere outside of North America will need consideration due to shipping costs.

The first place winner will get first pick from above, and so on with additional placing winners.

We'll judge it based on the votes everyone submits on a few categories we carefully picked... but we'll drop the lowest score for your project. So, if you're not sure you're going to tackle one of the categories? Eh, no prob, we're not gonna count it then.

The Categories Are....

• Usableness 

First and foremost, your game should be playable and understandable. The voting for this category focuses on how well players know what they should be doing with their pets and how to do it.

• Cuteness

Tied for the most important category - if we're doing this, we should do it right and cute. While we're really hoping for some cuties here, cuteness is in the eye of the beholder. Cuteness is also not only skin-deep. Your disgusting amoeba of a virtual pet just might have great personality, who am I to argue?

• Uniqueness

Now I know... I know... all of you are going to want to do a spin on a Tomagotchi. We all remember those little eggs, we all wanna make one, and many of us will - but maybe you wanna strike out from the beaten path... and if you do, it just might pay off... in the form of votes.

• Completeness

Virtual Pet games can go pretty "wide" in terms of scope and features, so it should be easy to make sure you make complete features before moving on to a new one. And really, we want all our pets to have full lives.

• Ambitiousness

How ambitious of a Virtual Pet did you set off and complete? Did you play it relatively safe? Or did you decide you were going to shun all norms, buy a hololens, and make a life size augmented reality friend? 

The Fine Print (Or really, just the rules)

Unlike pets, not everyone loves rules. Too bad. THE RULES OF THE JAM ARE AS FOLLOWS!

1. Drink water, sleep, and have fun.
2. Talk to everyone in the world about Virtual Pet Jam.
3. All Source / Assets must be created during the jam. (Exceptions below)
   1. You may use any freely available 3rd party extensions or code
   2. If you've got some base code, then feel free to use it... on the condition YOU SHARE ALL SOURCE, INCLUDING BASE CODE.
   3. FONTS with an applicable license (public domain, really) ARE acceptable. We don't expect you to make fonts.
4. You may use any programming language / game framework you'd like.... but
5. To qualify for PRIZES!, you MUST SUBMIT SOURCE.
6. Please keep it Family Friendly and avoid NSFW themes. 
7. Teams are allowed, and considerations will be made for team vs solo dev when considering final rankings. 
8. For the spirit of the Jam, Do NOT Start WORK Early... but Plan To Your Heart's Content BEFOREHAND!
