Who has time for game jams, with jobs, families and other commitments getting in the way? Week Sauce tries to make jamming more chill.

  • No set dates. Start whenever.
  • You have 7 days to make something, but they don’t need to be consecutive days.
  • After that, publish whatever you have, even if it’s not finished! No big deal, it’s just a #weeksauce game after all!
  • Submit as many times during the month as you want; we will host a new jam at the start of every month.
  • Tag any games you submit as #weeksauce, and use that same hashtag in social media so others can find you. You can also join our Discord server for announcements or if you want to chat with other participants.

This month's (optional) theme is:
 Make a Game with
0x72's Dungeon Tileset Assets

Wait, what assets?
Robert Norenberg's Dungeon Tileset. You can download them here: https://0x72.itch.io/dungeontileset-ii
Free?
It is a "pay what you want" asset pack. You can download it for free, but if you can spare a few dollars, I am sure Robert would appreciate whatever amount seems fair to you.
That link goes to Dungeon Tileset II, can I use version 1 instead?
Sure, you can find version 1 of the tileset here: https://0x72.itch.io/16x16-dungeon-tileset
So does it need to be a dungeon crawler?
Not at all, the fun of this theme is to try to make different kinds of games with the same assets.
OK, but I cannot really make a platformer or a 3D game with these assets…
Have you tried? 3D games, platformers, tabletop games… you will be surprised of all the things you can make with these assets if you give it a try! And remember you are not restricted to using "all" or "just" this asset pack. Feel free to use the parts that you like or add to it as much as you want.
Other people have created stuff that fits this asset. Can I mix and match?
Sure thing! There is a long list of links in the itch page, pointing to similar looking assets by 0x72 and other people. Feel free to use any of them. In particular I would recommend Robert's DungeonUI and PixelDudesMaker.
What if I don't like this asset pack at all?!
Feel free to use some other asset pack you like better. The theme is about being creative with what you can do with a specific asset pack. But also remember the theme is optional! So feel free to submit anything else you work on to the jam. We love all the games.
But I am an artist, what am I supposed to do if the art is already done?
You can still add your own twist to a game that uses this asset pack. Add to it, modify it, create new environments, sounds, or music… Even better, come by our Discord server and share your creations with all the other participants! This month we will open a forum where people can submit art that works with this tileset, so other participants can use it in their jam games. If we have enough contributions, after the jam closes we will create a free asset pack with them, as a way of giving back to the great community already using and producing assets that work with Robert's original. Rest assured that we take artist's creations and rights very seriously: if you decide to contribute, we will credit your art, and use it only in this asset pack if you clearly mark it with a CC0 (no rights reserved) license.

Note that your game must be created during the jam and for this jam only; if you created it or submitted it to a different jam, please don't re-submit it to Week Sauce.
