Welcome to the Turkey Jam!

This October, the University of Michigan’s WolverineSoft is hosting a 48 hour game jam that all are welcome and encouraged to participate in. Participants will work together in teams to try and create the best game possible in only a weekend! These games will be built from scratch, culminating in a showcase at the end where teams get the chance to present their work and have others play their game.

When: Friday November 15, 5 pm to Sunday October 17, 6 pm

Where: BBB 1690, and remote (via our Discord server: https://discord.gg/SftVBQdsk7)

How Can I Participate?

  1. Join the WolverineSoft discord at https://discord.gg/SftVBQdsk7! Then react to the message in the #faq-and-rules channel and grab the @Game Jammer role in the #roles channel.
  2. Discussion and announcements regarding the game jam will be contained within the Turkey Jam-related channels! Make sure to pay attention to #turkey-jam-announcements for important information about the jam, including events, deadlines, etc.
  3. At the time of kickoff, a team registration form will be sent out. Fill in the form and submit it by Saturday 6 pm (even if you're working alone)!

After you complete all 3 steps, you’re all set!

Rules

1. If you use any third party assets (Music, SFX, Art, etc) they must be free-to-use and properly credited in your game.

2. Your game must uphold the U of M standards of inclusivity, and tact! Use common sense, and avoid depicting offensive material. If we determine that your game grossly violates U of M values, you will be disqualified.

3. Have fun, be kind! Let the officers know if you have any questions or concerns!

(NOTE) You do not have to be in Ann Arbor or be affiliated with the University to participate in this jam - all are welcome, regardless of skill level or location!

Judging

Games will be voted on by the participants, and the top three games will be announced!

Games will also be judged by the 4 categories below:

  • Use of Theme
  • Gameplay, Mechanics
  • Style, Polish, Aesthetic
  • Music, SFX, Audio

Each game will be ranked for each category, and each category holds equal weight.

Schedule

Stay tuned to our Discord server to see the events that will take place!

Good luck, have fun, and happy jamming!
