Want to find horror games where you do more than see the monster, hide in a locker, and repeat? This is the jam for you.
Want to make a game with a creative take on the horror genre? This is the Jam for you.
Don’t want to challenge yourself to think outside the box? Please, I insist. Think about it a little, you just might come up with a great concept you would’ve never thought of before.

The theme is simple, YOU CAN RUN. BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE. If your’ game features an enemy, and you can escape it by hiding behind something, under something, or by running away from it. YOU FAIL. You CAN run in the game, but running can’t be used to escape the enemy. The goal of the jam is to explore new ways to design 3D horror games, or explore new genres entirely.

The Top 3 winners will each win a prize of $100. The winners will be determined by the community, with everyone being allowed to cast a vote.

Well if you can’t hide from the enemy, or run from them, what can you do?

* Resident Evil, Dead Space, and Silent Hill have you kill the enemies, using character design and difficulty to keep the enemies scary despite being vulnerable.
* The Fatal Frame series gives you a ghost catching camera
* The Ghostbusters with their proton packs, and Luigi with his Poltergust 3000 would lasso their ghosts, and after a hard fight suck them up.
* SCP - 173 (a weeping angel) requires you to keep your eyes on it otherwise it’ll snap your’ neck from behind.
* Emily Wants to Play requires a specific action to be performed for each enemy encounter, ranging from standing still, turning on the lights, and an enemy that hides from you for you to find within a time limit.

Consider thinking of an enemy encounter as more of a minigame, and try to give the player something they’ve never seen before.

Other than the main mandatory theme, I’ve added 3 optional themes. I tried to keep the themes vague, so that they function like Rorschach Ink Blots where everyone can find their own unique takeaways from them.
