Flawed Dev Log 024

3/22/2024:

Hello! I'm Flawed, trying my best to be Flawless.

Today, in the game Space Card Shooter 2 (name subject to change,) I made it so the cards you get in the shop cost money, and made enemies drop a more consistent amount of money.

I wrote out a TODO list roadmap for all the features that I need to add, and was thinking if I should use a Slay the Spire type of pathing. I will try it out, and see how it works, however, I don't want to just copy everything from Slay the Spire (which I may accidently end up doing.) There are already many games that follow the Slay the Spire format to an extent, like Peglin and Inscryption.

I'm not even sure if Slay the Spire was the first to do that map based pathing. Let me know if anyone is aware of what the first game to use that pathing system was.

"...cards you get in the shop cost money..." EA ?

(1 edit) (+1)

before this day, I had just copied the code for getting cards from battle rewards to the shop. You could get a single card and it would close the shop. On this day, I wrote a new script for shop cards to make it so you can get more than one, and they take away money. Hope this helps!

Edit: Spent the whole afternoon trying to figure out what you meant by EA, and it just hit me that you were referring to Electronic Arts making a joke. Well played sir, I got whooshed.
