SuNoFes: The Day Before

Hello!

It's almost time to start the newest game! I want to make this post to share with you the early concepts I have!

The Game

Unsurprisingly, the story is quite character-driven!

The game will be about a group of three people having regular meetings as they finish up their video game project, with the protagonist being one of those people!

More specifically, the game focuses on the protagonist's relationship with the two people around him. But someone doesn't get along very well with him... which puts our protagonist in a lot of uncomfortable situations!

What will he do in these circumstances? How will one relationship affect the other? What will the last few days of this game dev club look like? The choice is yours... quite literally!


The People

I think their relationship (and their early concept) is best illustrated with this chart I made!


Indeed, the protagonist is not in the position that some many expect him to be! I want to try to make a story about something meaningful, and this group dynamic allows me that potential!

I hope you look forward to seeing their relationships in action! I'm gonna do my very best when writing them.


User Interface

I have a basic concept for the UI, and was wondering if you had any thoughts on it!

I think it looks nice, but I can't be sure until I actually implement it!

I'm still in the very early stages of learning how to work with Screens (the way one adds UI) in Ren'Py, so there's a couple parts of this that will be challenging, but I'm pretty confident they'll get made!

Any thoughts or suggestions are always appreciated!


Devlogs

As this is a two-month game jam, I don't want to make a devlog every day! Instead, I'll be posting a devlog at the end of every week! This gives me time to make stuff, and keeps your feed uncluttered!


In Conclusion



Summary

I'm so excited to get to work on this game! I have a lot of ambitions for it that I hope to live up to. I sincerely hope what I make impresses you, at least a little!

Love triangles!! I feel like when executed well, they can be really interesting, however it's a bit tricky to manage one without falling into the same overused 'shy love interest and tsundere love interest likes generic character' trope like most media I've seen

Oh oh, if you need help on screens, I can provide some answers to stuff that might be confusing! My game 'Bloom of The White Crystal' was one that I decided to experiment implementing screens with, so I still have some leftover knowledge I could share:3
