Hello! Welcome new-and-old friends-of-stoats! We're just ticked that so many people saw our silly post about the bootleg game and decided that we were worth checking out. Thanks for either visiting Safety Stoat Studios for the first time or for your continuing patronage, as the case may be! As a way of orientation, allow me to present some Answers to Frequently Asked Questions (AFAQs) about Safety Stoat Studios:
Answer 1:
A stoat is like a weasel. It looks like this:
Answer 2:
Safety Stoat Studios is a small firm consisting of approximately one person who sometimes squeezes in game development between his real job and childcare for his many pernickety children. He sometimes forgets to use plural pronouns to refer to the studio, which is why we are inconsistent about our usage of "we" vs "I." We would sack him due to his unsatisfactory command of grammar, but then there would be nobody left.
Answer 3:
Our slogan is "No Restraint," because our founder thought it would be a very funny motto for a corporation to have. Our games are generally either novel experiments or esoteric, stupid jokes or both. We're interested in the possibilities of implementing new game design ideas using old technology.
Answer 4:
Our pipeline is always subject to change, but we project that our next release will probably be a take on War Marbles. You will likely remember the popular children's board game War Marbles, which is a simple head-to-head pinball variant well-known for its extreme 90s TV ads.
We're interested in games that change depending on how you play them so that early decisions lead to different choices to make later on. Examples are the classic card game Flux, Magic The Gathering drafts, Slay the Spire, and our own (excellent) Golfanalia. The idea is to build a game like traditional War Marbles, but with play that morphs depending on the player's choices. For example, the place on the board that had the most marbles roll over it in the previous round might grow a permanent, new pinball bumper. The working title is: War Marbles Legacy.
Because stoat-friends are such a cool bunch, we'll even provide an exclusive peek at our "design doc:"
Anyway, time's up pals! Watch this space for exciting mustelid updates!
