A public announcement regarding diversity

Hello everyone,

I am making a quick announcement, and I'll be short: I will never tolerate any form of bigotry through my creations and will always be in favor of the rights of marginalized minorities, women, and LGBTQ+ people.

Why am I making this announcement? First off, this is my reaction to the recent wave of companies stepping back from their DEI programs in the US (even though I'm French). As a creator, albeit a very small one, and as someone who wishes to create joy in other people, I feel like it's a responsibility of mine to be clear about these kinds of topics. I always avoid talking about politics publicly, and probably will continue doing so in the future, but this felt very different. This is about human rights, but also about my friends, my family, and close relatives. This should not be a controversial thing to say.

Second off, even if I'm not some huge creator with enormous amounts of influence, I want to be held accountable in the future. Companies like Meta stepping down from their DEI program have shown that things like these can't be taken as given. By making a public announcement, this is my way of putting a standard out there for other people, to set expectations for the future, so that everyone can hold me accountable by my actions.

I hesitated making this post, but ultimately, I hope that this sets the bar not only for me but also for other creators. I don't want to blame others for not wishing to talking about these kinds of topics (I myself am sometimes overwhelmed by news and just want to hide in a cave), and I don't think that everyone should be expected to publicly state their opinion on every imaginable topic. But I at least got this off my chest.

As a side note, Bugscraper is coming along great and I hope that I'll be able to soon show off more stuff. Stay tuned. :)

Cheers

Léo
