My attempt to list most of the Playdate games available on Itch, since a lot of people are iffy with tagging (e.g. one-bit computer games tagged “Playdate” and Playdate games not tagged). Additionally, the existing collections often seem slightly out-of-date. Please don't be offended if I accidentally missed your game!
I'll write blurbs with my thoughts for all the games I've personally played.
Currently full games and applications/utilities only, not really interested in including game prototypes or tech demos here.
Fun little tower defense game. Rather difficult to figure out at first IMO but gets going.
Certainly the most ambitious and large-scale Playdate game to date. Really fun, although I'm nowhere near even halfway through the game. Very deep gameplay with lots of variety. Very well adapted to the Playdate's display in terms of size and legibility as well. Highly recommended.
Absolutely fantastic Mahjong-style solitaire with a staggering number of board layouts and customization options. Highly recommended.
Interesting, often pretty simple to beat, but since it's randomized the difficulty can massively vary. Once you play it a lot then it remains easy though; I wish there was options for more board sizes and other modifiers. I also wish there was the ability to mark cards with numbers. I absolutely love the artwork in it, certainly the best part of the game.
Little puzzler, a twist on classic Snake-style games. Really wish it had an undo button to undo accidental mistakes instead of having to reset the whole room. Also don't like how you can box yourself in just by rotating even if you don't actually move at all. Good concept but really feels like it lacks polish (likely due to limitations in Pulp)
Pretty fun port of a game for Pebble watches, that I've actually played before.
Simple little game that I think I've played something like before…
I found the CYA “Tribute” labelling all over the game amusing
Amusing game. Gets a slight bit tedious but as long as you don't play it all at once then it's all good. Like the art, the atrium graphics in particular.
It's solitaire! Nice time killer to have. Excellently fits into the small screen (particularly the “spiderette” version of Spider). I like that it has an option to restart the same game as you're currently playing, because too often it's possible to get into an unwinnable state because you accidentally made a wrong move however long ago, but you still want to beat this specific deal.
Surprisingly difficult Game & Watch style game. Very polished, even in the menus. The difficulty increase each level feels perfect, and I appreciate that the main game's levels aren't randomly generated so you know they're actually possible. Love the feel of using the crank to control the trapdoors, it feels like just the right amount of cranking. I like that it comes with the soundtrack too!
Highly recommend.
