The GameJam is over, and it was a great experience! It's time to debrief.

My goal was to continue my training to develop on Unreal engine, I am a 2D / 3D artist at the base.

The biggest challenges was the farming system, setting up a grid and being able to plant and harvest on it. I have redone it several times and the result is working but really not optimized!

I wanted a lot of exploration, with a lot of environments, luckily I have a lot of packs in my possession. Finally integrate NPCs to guide the story.

I also wanted to integrate a random dungeon system, unfortunately not currently functional as well as a fog of war on the worldmap in WIP currently.

For people who want to learn dev in Unreal like me, here are my references:

TUTORIALS

Ryan Laley: For pretty much everything! https://www.youtube.com/c/RyanLaley

Mathew Wadstein answers any question precisely. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCOVfF7PfLbRdVEm0hONTrNQ

CrazyCatDev: Super tutorial to make the grid, unfortunately he does not hesitate for the moment. https://www.youtube.com/c/CrazyCatDev

PACKS

ESRPG: I started from this pack, which I know very well. I have prototyped several times on it. Good menu base and inventory system.

PolygonApocalypse: For 3D environments. If you want it, buy it from their official store. You will have access to the Unreal / Unity version as well as their original models. https://syntystore.com/products/polygon-apocalypse-pack

SimpleDungeonGenerator: Despite the fact that I couldn't get it to work, a really cool dungeon random generation system.

I am seriously thinking of continuing this project quietly.

Big thumbs up to everyone who managed to finish the GameJam and thanks to Firith Studio / Goodgis for hosting GAMJAM.

And I hope you had as much fun testing this game as I built it.

Please feel free to send me feedback!

The kiss to all!

Hello everyone !

First solo gamejam, I think I'm going on the perfect mix between StarDew x FallOut x LoveDeathAndRobot-Suits

Day and Light system + Harvest system + Autumn saison start + Indecision colorpalet

Stay Tunned !

And GOOD LUCK  everyone !

oh I like where your mind went on that, will look forward to playing that once it's submitted! I've gone with a metroid style platformer/exploration game, using the "day night cycle" idea to cause lighting to change how you see area's. hopefully it will allow secret areas and stuff depending on time of day!

The same !  Your idea looks so cool !

Some information on # GreatAutumnGameJam2021

The project will be done under UE4, with the: easy rpg system as a basis.

I'm going to cut my production in half, a week of Dev, a week of Art.

Hope to get the perfect mix between StarDew x FallOut x LoveDeathAndRobot-Suits!

I want a simple and colorful design (production time requires)

Here are my first scribbles :

(Yeah ...   This is your dog XD)

can't wait to see yours - looks much better than my art

it's not snowing - it's nighttime (the grey is supposed to be black but it's a transparent image)

Graphics is overrated! The most important is the gameplay!

If you saw my code, you would laugh!

Ok, we can move around !

From your description, I got worried cos I thought we were gonna end up with more similar games than I think they are (judging from the vid).

Good luck! Your drawings look incredible, I'm very jealous of the artistic abilities.

FINALLY ! I succeeded in coding my farming system. I went through hell but it works and saves itself!

You can grow pumpkins and sell them!

Next step: Successfully spawn trees, stones, and other harvest items.

(For the information: my grid is REALLY not optimized!)
