I really like the idea and it works really well! It did get very difficult to control what was going on at times, but it was enough that I had fun playing.

Good idea, and nice execution! some feedback:

  • The controls felt wrong. I feel like gamepad or mouse-based controls would make the game more fun.
  • It was difficult for me to remember what each side did. Like sure, green and snow are self evident, but then yellow, red, blue. I forget immediately!
  • The timer-based wave-based gameplay felt a bit wrong. I'd suggest having a timer + spawning balls based on how many are left on screen, to avoid dead time

Don't get all that criticism let you think I didn't like the game. I thought it was very nice, and did a lot with very little.

Yeah, the controls definitely take some getting used to. I think using the mouse wheel is easier than the arrow keys (especially if you have a free-rotating mouse wheel), but being able to move or rotate the square by moving the mouse would also be nice.

I agree the side graphics probably aren't all distinct enough...even I was getting them mixed up sometimes when playing!

When I was testing it, I liked having a little bit of a breather in between waves. I did make it so if there are no balls left on the screen, it'll move up the spawn time of the next wave, so there shouldn't be more than a couple seconds of downtime. I never tried just having constant spawning modulated by the number of balls remaining though, which might work better.

Thanks for the feedback!

Well made and fun gameplay idea! I had some issues with balls getting stuck inside my square, but overall it felt polished and proper :) Nicely done!

Yeah, I noticed that could happen pretty early on, but I decided to leave it in since it allows you to do silly things like gather balls and ferry them to a score area, or launch them out of you at incredible speeds, which is amusing to me.

I really enjoyed it. Well done!

Cool theme interpretation! Very unique! One piece of feedback was that I found the controls a bit unintuitive, at least at the beginning, it feels like there is a "forward" direction, but obviously its just a square and there isn't. Really cool game overall, well done!
