How does your game represent Mode?
In Big Mojo you fill your mojo bar and enter mojo mode. In mojo mode you are stronger and faster. Mojo mode is central to gameplay as many items synergize with mojo mode :D

I'm a total sucker for capybaras, and I really liked this. Now this is a FUN top-down shooter. I think this is what they'd call a "Survivors-like" nowadays although it's the first one I've ever played, haven't tried Vampire Survivors. I love the art, storytelling, music, and cutscenes (especially the last slide of the opening cutscene is just *chef kiss*). By capybara standards, Big M is really lacking in chill. I couldn't get past New Mexico, the enemy hoards were just too numerous for me. Also they don't look undead so I wondered if I was just killing random animals? Then again I was, of course, an even more random animal.

Constructive feedback:

The sound of your pistol is really puny. It should at least sound punchier as you get more and more barrels.

The game would REALLY benefit from some kind of level design, or at least every level not being the SAME brown featureless plain.

Mojo seems to drain faster the less of it you have. Feels mean.

Upgrades don't seem exactly balanced. In particular, more barrels seems to trump almost everything except a medkit when you need it. Totem of rest is not tempting in a game where standing still is certain death in a matter of seconds. I could see how the enhanced vision might help you figure out which way to move in later levels, but I never felt compelled to take when more dakka was being offered. Likewise I disregarded upgrades that applied while in mojo mode in favor of upgrades that would increase my damage output in or out of mojo mode. Throwing knives and piercing bullets were neat. I did really enjoy how everything stacked with everything.

End constructive feedback.

I'd try harder to beat this but there's a few hundred un-rated and under-rated games out there and I want to get to some of them. I may come back to this when the jam's over, especially if you're gonna keep adding features.

Mojo mode active. Now everything will die. Love all of the options for upgrades and different enemies.

Loved this, the art is great and the story is top notch, definitely my top pick of the jam so far!
