God this is hard. But pretty! Love it!
I love the aesthetics and the idea for the barrel roll unblocking the gun :D
The animations for fire and shooting are nice, the UI is great (presumably :D). WIth some polished music (that maybe changes based on how you're doing?) and a way to prolong the game (healing, shields, multiple lives?), it could be a great game to get into easy and play for a long time.
Maybe you could different kinds of planes, both for the player and the enemies?
Ooh, or aircraft carriers in the sea that you can land on or just pass through a power up above them so that you heal?
Also, maybe this is visible in the UI but some altitude feedback would be good.

I absolutely love the landable aircraft carriers idea. You could even make it so that you can only heal and upgrade your plane while on a carrier as well as having to protect it from enemies.
Luftrausers without the airship from Luftrausers? Heck yeah!
...somehow it's actually way harder than Luftrausers, even without the airship.

Such lovely visuals. Really good impact when shooting. Really nailed that!
The extra features in the UI is great as well, like how the guy is getting visually more damaged to represent your health. Great choice instead of “just a health bar”.
Music gets me into such a good vibe when playing this.
Just missing a score counter and then it’s a true arcade game, almost enough to ship the game with that.

Shame I can't enjoy that crisp and responsive UI on my shameful 1080 display, but amazing visuals and animations. Punchy sound and fun controls. Luftrauser vibes.
