You did very well on the art and audio! Those two fit the theme very well. Personally, I felt a bit trapped and incapable of escaping, due to the fact that the player moves slower than the monsters. Every time a chaser came after me, even when I tried to run, it got me. That's not really fair in my books. Maybe we finish 99% of the game, and before reaching the last piece of broken heart, a monster starts chasing us and inevitably catches us. Game over... Start again? I dunno...
Please be careful of making your games fairly winnable, not just winnable by the blind luck of never encountering a game-ender.
Overall, I loved this art style. Simplistic in a way, but also smooth and it worked very well. However, communication of the games mechanics was not super good. I read the description, "light is your only weapon" and thought okay, so I need to shine light on the monsters, but that only sometimes worked. Then I looked at the controls and saw that you could turn the light off. Why would I want to turn off my weapon? The idea of the game is fantastic and I would love to play more, I just don't know how the game works or what I'm supposed to be doing or looking for so I couldn't get the full experience of this game.
I realized the issue with explaining the mechanics too late and too tired. Should have added a note about it.
Basically, the monster that charges at you from the trees runs away when in light, while the others will chase you if you shine your light at them. You need to find 3 pieces of a broken heart.
What an atmospheric game. Great job done here. Very very good artwork and audio. Game concept fits theme . This is how a game should look like. Hats off.
Thank you!
