In what way does your game fit the theme?
My game has the main players friend help him safely get though the levels.

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I used tutorials for the code, but all the art was made by me. The sounds were made by someone else except for the music, which was made by me.

Fantastic little game! the graphics are cute and even make up for the lack of animation... though the main game mechanic is fantastic and works really well! The music is great to and the game has a lot of charm, polish and most importantly, potential. this is one of the few games that I've played that could be a commercial game one day!

(Edit)

The difficulty is a bit much tho, maybe cause I'm bad but it's just a bit too hard

Developer

Thanks for your comment! I will be making a part 2 that will hopefully have the difficulty worked out a little better.

This game was pretty nice for the reflexes at first. I had fun dodging and blocking the fireballs as they approached from different directions, but if I'm being honest, this game needed some form of polishing.

Pros:

+ You fit the theme pretty nicely into this game

+ The art and music was pretty chill

+ I like the challenge of the way the levels were designed.

Cons:

+ It may just be me, but the jumping felt unresponsive sometimes.

+ It kind of got frustrating after reaching level 6+ where there were multiple fireballs coming from many directions without warning and injured and killed me at the worst of times.  I would suggest adding powerups atleast to give the player a better advantage over the fireballs atleast.

Overall though, I enjoyed playing this game.  I would of continued it even further too. The highest I reached was level 10.

Thanks for the feedback! Every bit of help is appreciated. I will most likely make a part 2 for the game using the comments on this one. I have many plans for part 2, including more levels, traps, and hopefully a much better fireball system. If you would like to play part 2, it should be done some point next month.

Nice idea and cool implementation. I found difficult to couter the fireballs because is not possible to tell from where they come from. Maybe if there where a bit less but inside the level could work a bit better.

Thanks for your feedback. Once the jam is over I'll probably make a part 2 for the game using peoples suggestions.

Hey, awesome game! I love how smoothly the little friend follows the main character, good job on that!

Nice platformer game.  I like the shield the friend has, but I couldn't figure out if there was a way to change the direction of the shield

Developer (1 edit)

Sorry about missing some instructions, but I have added them in the game's description.  In case you want play again, use the mouse/mousepad to move the shield, as the shield will always point at the mouse pointer.
