In what way does your game fit the theme?
You have to defeat all the indie devs to get them to join you

Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
I wrote all the code myself. Sound was sampled from opensound.org. World art is all from an asset pack I own and have rights to use. All UI and character art is my own. Font is from dafont and is free to use.

Nice game, even though you didn't have the time to finish it. It does show promise though!

Even though you say you didn't finish, a good attempt! The aim of game jams is to push our ourselves and glad you tried

With more time I think it would be made into what you aimed for. More explanation on combat and overall game mechanics would be great. Boss attacked me after collecting, I think all?, devs, but I didnt stand a chance. There are a lot of very good suggestions in the comments, definitelly would like to play it again when updated.

A promising game! I’d add some explanation on how exactly the combat works and what do those potions that you pick up do. It seemed that you can just click the attack type that you have the most power in? Maybe the power should decrease when you use the attack, or at least change somehow from turn to turn, otherwise just clicking the same button all the time doesn’t really feel engaging. I also couldn’t start the fight with the boss, unfortunately. Anyways, good job!

  • Unrelated to the game itself but I’d recommend adding a theme to your itch.io page just to make it look more interesting

  • The title screen’s font is a bit blurred. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not but if it’s not it might be related to your font size (I’ve experienced similar issues with pixel art fonts in Godot)

  • It’s not very clear that you need to press enter/space to progress the dialogue

  • I love the way the dialogue appears gradually through a typing-like effect. I’d also recommend adding a typing SFX to go along with it to polish it a bit more

  • This would be mitigated by adding a fullscreen button but I think the in-game font is too small (for the dialogue and attack info)

  • It’s not very clear how much health enemies have. The health bar is better than nothing but I think there should be a numerical value displayed as well

  • I’m not a fan of the font. I find that it’s quite hard to read at times. For example, the ‘S’ in “SDes” (representing “Sound Design” in the battle stats) looks more like a ‘5’

  • Some of the shorthand stat names are a bit confusing so I had to think about them for a bit to actually get them. However, I’m still not sure what “AP” means

  • The game could do with some music

  • I love how the typing system works - it’s pretty funny

  • I think it should be more clear that the green guy is a boss. Maybe some kind of indicator above their head? The first time I fought them I got destroyed because I thought they were just a normal character

  • Quite a unique theme interpretation. I don’t think I’ve seen any games so far with turn-based combat

  • I’m not really sure how to use items. (I’m assuming the potions on the ground you can pick up are consumables.) I pressed the “Item” button but nothing seemed to happen

  • Sometimes I see black lines between the tiles (this might be due to “pixel snap” being turned off in the project settings). Obstacles like trees also sometimes jitter about a bit slightly when the player moves which could also be related to pixel snap

  • I wish there was a way to walk a bit faster

  • Some of the map feels a bit empty

  • I think there should be automatic respawning once you die

  • I felt like the normal characters were too easy and the boss was too hard. There wasn’t much strategy to my attacks. I just tried to figure out what they were weak to and then I would spam that. I attempted killing the boss 3 times but I failed every time. I’m not sure how to beat them. I haven’t been able to get them below half health. I think I’ve gotten all the devs on my team as I searched around the entire map though

This is an AMAZING game love all the pokemon stuff.  The only problem is when you die you don't respawn.

P.S. I would really appreciate it if you check out my game.

Developer

Thank you :). Highly annoyingly I ran out of time to implement a re-spawn! :(

No problem will do!
