Author's notes
we originally started working on this one in 2021, intending for it to be similar to our previous game, golden rays of sunshine, but with a bigger scope... well, it turned out to be too big for a 1.5-person team like us, lol. we liked the work that we did for the project, though, so here it is!

Hi. Tried to play the game, but when I ran the .exe, I got and error, "Could not open file Object1".

Good it sounds like an easy fix.

Oh yes, not sure if you are aware, but there is an opensource software called EasyRPG that makes RPG Maker 2000 and 2003 games compatible with web, mobile and Game Boy. I don't have RPG Maker, so I have never tried it myself, but it seems easy to use. There are actually several games on itch tagged as EasyRPG.

alright, i uploaded a new version of the game that should hopefully have all that sorted out now. let me know if there’s any other game-breaking issues like that!

and yeah, i’ve heard of easyrpg before! it does sound pretty cool, so i should really check it out sometime.

Just tried it out. Maps are nice, though I got a little bored walking through the dungeon. If it were a full game in which the player had a goal being there, it might have been more interesting, though I think my frustration was largely that there is no way to increase the walking speed, which might not be an option in 2003.

Also, maybe you already have planned to do this, but I think the inn you start in would benefit from a front desk with an innkeeper and some actual bedrooms, since it is an inn.

Congratulations on managing to complete so many complex maps by the end of the jam.
