Very intriguing premise so far, I'd love to see this story further develop, good job!

Developer

Thank you! I'm really glad you found the premise intriguing. I have big plans for the story, and I'm excited to expand on it in the next update!

Wow nice narrative game! I think there is a room for future updates! Sadly its that short :( I had fun, and hope that u will make more into that story!

Developer

Sorry for the short gameplay! I wanted to make it much longer, but sadly I only have 1 or 2 hours per day to work on this project because of high school. Also, I have driving lessons, so it's been hard to find time this month. But I’m definitely planning to expand the story before the end of this month!

It's a sad story about how people can feel forgotten as the world moves on and constantly changes.

Without distraction or focus this can lead people down a dangerous path of disconnection and depression.  For such people the world really does lose its colour through a lack of hope and joy.

The game is small and covers a deep and sensitive topic, but does it in a way that neither glorifies, nor belittles, the subject.  A very well thought out story.

Thank you, and I hope it's not a reflection of personal experience.

Developer(+1)

Not really personal experience, at least not the poison part. But I did feel the weight of those thoughts this month. Thankfully, I’m not going to act on them, and I really hope others won’t either. I’ll add something in the next update to not make people think that suicide is the best choose for real life.

I think you might be better leaving it ambiguous, it hits harder that way.

However, what a lot of media in the UK does these days for sensitive subjects is notify the viewers/readers/listeners that if they have been affected by whatever sensitive subject they are concerned with at the time to contact an appropriate charity and providing a phone number or other contact details.

Your game doesn't glorify the subject, and by just saying it's bad would remove the weight of the story.  If you engage with the story, at each point you will ask why, how has it progressed to this ending, was there a way to change it?  The message in the story, as far as I can tell, is that life can be tough, and anyone can drift down that path, you then show the end of that path and, to me at least, that's what gives it some weight and makes you think about it.  The fact is that most people, when they drift down that path, they don't get to the end of it, there's normally someone else that helps to pull them back from that path and it could be as simple as someone in a shop asking how their day was.

Whatever you plan to do with it, there was thought and respect behind the story and the flow and I think you should try to maintain that.

Also, everyone has stuff to deal with and stuff they carry, and sometimes it can get a bit much,  when it's like that, as difficult as it seems, it can be beneficial to stop, take a breath and then take another look at what the problem is, if it doesn't help, then you likely need some help, and I don't mean it in a condescending way, but in the sense that if you can't see a way to deal with the problem, maybe someone else can.  If you haven't already found your answers, I hope you do.

The art of the game is beautiful, congratulations! What a sad story in the game, it became very engaging.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I'm really glad you found the story engaging. I wanted to create something emotional that expresses my feelings, so I really appreciate your kind words about the art!

Really great to see different genres! I love this short story, and the art is great. Only thing, beside ones you mentioned on the page, would be giving more monologue freedom - I would let user discover the story himself. Can't wait for polished version!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I definitely wanted to give players more freedom to explore the story at their own pace, but I ran out of time. This was also my first time doing pixel art again after a year, so it was a challenge! The polished version will focus more on that freedom, and I appreciate the feedback!

i wanna see the update and thanks for the simple game

add a narrator it will upgrade it too much

Developer(+1)

Glad you enjoyed it! A narrator is a great idea, and I actually wanted to add one, but time was tight. I’ll see if I can include it in the update along with more interactions and polish. Thanks for playing!
