- The look of the game is really lovely + the music is very relaxing! I think you did a great job of framing a serious/potentially dark topic in an approachable way. I did think the sequence of events that happens in the game feels a bit abrupt, but I know that's probably a result of the limited amount of time you had for writing. It's also somewhat unclear what to do between dialog screens -- I sometimes felt like I was randomly guessing where to go or what to do. Lastly, visible timers on the mini games would be nice (or some kind of indication that it's endless until you hit something)! Sometimes I was not sure if I was experiencing a glitch or not. --- 26/40

Really like the art system. I think it's cool that you used your game to convey a message that you care about. I really love the featured image of the game. Very nice. I played it on stream and had a good time doing so.
I agree with ION, that mini-games would benefit from a small explanation in the beginning. I failed the first one of the papers because I didn't know how to do it the first time. Not a big deal because then I just did it the second time. Another thing that he touched on was that was interactable need highlighted or something like that. I agree. I tried to talk to the bird people in the plaza and nothing happened. I thought, maybe they are for a later step. Then I got to a later step and thought, "oh! This is where I talk to the bird people", but it wasn't. Again very small thing, but it would be nice if it highlighted or something like that. Or if they just had random dialogue that was like hints or something.
That said, all my feedback is really nitpicking. It was a good game, and I would love it if you could see this story/convey this message over a longer more nuanced game. Thank you, for a fun play-through!
Thanks for the feedback Eric!! Totally agree with those criticisms, we struggled towards the end of the jam implementing everything we wanted to so some features we forgot to implement were interactions with the bird people and clearer instructions. No worries about the nitpicking, we really appreciate the comments! We're actually considering developing our game further, so we'll be looking forward to implementing the changes you suggested. Thanks again! :D
I think this is a really unique and great game! I like the art style a lot and thought the music fit well in the game. I think the mini games to earn money are also a really cool feature, although I think explaining the mechanics a little bit better before the mini games start could be helpful (even just a visual reference to see what you're supposed to do could be very useful to the player).
The message of the game is very great and something that I haven't really thought about too much. I appreciate you using your game to talk about an issue that is important to you. Thank you for sharing and bringing awareness to this! One area that I think an improvement could be made in is the signposting. Things like closing doors of buildings you can't enter (I tried to go in the houses on the way to the hospital which you cannot do) and highlighting items/people that you can interact with.
Thank you for making this game and bringing more awareness to the topic!
Thanks for the feedback, IONPowered!! You bring up really good points about the buildings and highlighting, we realize now that not having access to those buildings would be confusing. We're actually thinking about developing the game further so we'll definitely implement those changes in the process!
great game with a great message! It was short but polished in its art style. The only thing I'd change is perhaps adding an option to return to the main menu/quit the game and also making it longer. But I thought the lesson was cool and unique, thanks for bringing awareness to this issue!
Thanks so much for the feedback! Definitely agree about that option, we realized towards the end of the jam that those button options were needed. We're looking to develop it further to include more options and fix bugs so your comment helps us a lot :D
