This is a fun game. A friend of mine and I just finished playing this and had an absolute blast. The prompts seem as though they might be too simple, but they worked out really well for us. I will note that my enjoyment of the game was probably increased because I very carefully chose not to read the Sender's part of the story. So, there were some genuine surprises!

I'm currently playing this game with four different people. In each case, I let the other person roll our situations and start the story going. It's been delightful to see how different people take this game in their own unique directions. Since the Event is undefined by the rules, it's been fascinating to see what people think has happened to our world. (and how we are recovering from it.)

I haven't played a lot of correspondence games previously, so I can't really say how this stacks up in comparison. I will say that the graph of rolled events was initially confusing, but it's easily solved by using the 2d6 numbers in whatever order gets you a prompt or by using the empty prompt spaces as a kind of free-writing option.

In general, if you've, never tried playing a game through the mail, you should consider giving it a go, even if this game doesn't necessarily appeal to you, specifically. It's absolutely delightful to see how the tactile experience of getting envelope and paper in the mail affects the story telling.

In all but one case, the players have decided whether or not they believe paper is in short supply. I have one correspondent sending me re-used, ripped scrap paper. Another has been using up their dorky card collection. I've been sending handmade paper in reply. And all of this informs the story we tell each other and is just a cool perk of the game play, IMHO.  It's just neat to get something physical, and, of course, it makes picking up the mail an exciting adventure.

This kind of game is great for someone like me who never gets quite enough roleplaying time in any given session because you can write as long or short a letter as you want.

I recommend this one. It's great fun.
