I was able to collect 9 of 10 gold pieces, the last one spawned above the grass. I like that you kept close to the form of the original in some ways while also bringing our beloved prospector into the 3rd dimension.
It may be a bit rough and unfinished, but I appreciate all tributes to the beautiful man that is Pickaxe Pete!
