My roommate and I played this for like four hours this morning and it might be our new favorite card game. Rules are straightforward but also allow for a lot of variety of play, and the flavor is immaculate. Solid balance/difficulty, too- there were a few absolute blowouts, but a bunch were distressingly close.

This is an exceptionally well-considered and well-written game. It's not over-written, but it's very carefully written. I enjoy the way information about the real world is mixed with dense popular culture references to create a clear but flexible play space. I find the central concept intriguing - you don't know your full skills list until other players remind you of your own past. "How can we find this guy?" "Didn't you compile the first phonebook of Paris?" "Oh yeah!" Now you remember a whole chapter of your Angel's life that can come back in play.
On top of that, the use of tarot cards for resolution adds layers of arcane free association which adds another layer to what's happening.
I've read a fair few RPGs, but the last chapter of Relics is one of the best "How to you run a roleplaying game" chapters I've ever read. It drops all the in-universe talk of the earlier chapters and lays out the basics of storytelling, describes the social management requires, and gives plenty of comparisons to television and film for you to draw on.
