Very well written, and very impressive for something written in under four hours. I'd like to read an expanded version of this story with a few extra branches.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. Looks like I need to try and make a more expanded version of this when I get some time :)

very good and very creepy. I love the setup and small story that frames why you are summoning the creature. I also like that you got to choose what the creature looked like--even if it just changed flavor text. I wish you added a way to make a weak creature that fails, or that the element order mattered, but I respect that you had limited time. Only once choice seemed to matter: who do you kill? It was a great moral decision though.

Thanks for the feedback Shadowdrake27 :) Yep it was the limited time factor. I'd like to expand it out a bit more in some ways including the ones you're mentioning, but unfortunately  due to RL factors only had time to make a game for the short category this year. Hopefully will expand it at a later time if enough people are interested, as it'd be interesting to have a creature that significantly changes in its abilities, can potentially fail or turns on you instead if you don't get everything quite right during the ritual or change the placement of the elements.

That would be fun!

I liked the subtle changes that the different choices in this have on the story, and that there wasn't a clearly right answer to who was guilty and who was innocent. Did the order you put the elements down in make a difference at all? I expected dire consequences if I got that wrong, but couldn't tell if it mattered.

Thanks Stewart! I was originally going to write a larger branching path for the element order, but underestimated how much time the rest of the game would take to put together and ended up running out of time for the 4 hr limit! In the story's current incarnation is only makes a minor difference rather than dire consequences which was the original plan I'm afraid. I might go back and have a play with it after the comp and add some extra branches in there to it :)

Very evocative prose that makes me want to read more about the universe this story is set in. It is very impressive, especially for something written under 4 hours!
