In what way(s) does your game fit the jam theme?
There is a contrast between action and calm. Sail over a peaceful ocean before an action packed battle against space pirates. Earn seconds by saving aliens then pack awesome into those seconds fighting pirates.

I am not sure how you did it, but those waves felt AMAZING. I kind of got a bit seasick, just from boobing up and down. It also felt like the ship was really pushed back and forth with the sea. Did you program that or was that just a illusion on my part?

Well, all in all a good entry. Even though both parts were lacking a bit in the gameplay departement.

Thanks!  You are totally right - the gameplay was pretty lackluster, especially in the ocean.  The waves are a vertex shader but then I had to duplicate the code that made the waves (just a load of sin and cos waves combined to stop them looking too repetitive) in gameplay code so the objects could look like they floated.  I totally ran out of time because I think I got too ambitious - it’s my first game jam and I am a stay at home mum with two kids - I had to bribe their dad to take them out on Saturday so I could get some time to finish it off!
